Another good meeting with a bit of a false start. Oops, no flags out when we sang the National Anthem. Jim Wilson and Russell Dunn to the rescue. A number of new and returning visitors made it enjoyable.
Please take note if you are rostered on for any duty. If you are an apology for that night, it is your responsibility to arrange a replacement. That way all the jobs get done.
Bill Minns is in St John of God Frankston Rehabilitation Hospital. 255-265 Cranbourne Road, Frankston. Visiting hours 2.00pm to 8.00pm. A phone call prior to visiting would be appreciated. We wish him well in getting back on his feet.
A thank you letter was received from Chairman Neil Lucas of the Berwick Harkaway Cemetery Trust. He thanked us for our ongoing work with the annual cleanup. It is very much appreciated.
Golf Day reminder, please let all your friends, customers and acquaintances know about the day. The raffle tickets will be out soon.
Silent auction items and prizes are needed for the day. We need both high and low value goodies. Again, ask around as we don’t want Rotarian’s putting their hand in their own pocket all the time.
Sharmaine suggested we all had a hug as we had not had for a while. This created great mirth. There are potential new members in the wings.
Dates have been suggested for more social and fellowship activities. More details to follow.
29th March, maybe movie and a dinner.
20th or 21st May, Winery tour
14th June, maybe a Trivia night.
Isobel spoke about the Orbost Fishing Trip. Being a first time attendee she was very impressed. The RC Orbost were fantastic hosts. They have 23 members and proudly state that half are women. The weekend is one of their major fundraisers. They get support from the community members who volunteer their time and boats for the weekend. A pleasant weekend, even if you don’t go fishing.
The International Women’s Day breakfast was held at the Mornington Racecourse. The RC’s of Frankston North, Frankston, Peninsula 2.0 and Mt Eliza hosted. 420 people were in attendance. District Governor Elect Janne Speirs spoke about Rotary and all that we do. She is a great job of selling Rotary to a room full of mainly non Rotarians.
Please put your apologies before 10 am Tuesday if you do not want to be charged. attendance@rotaryberwick.org
If you have an apology, it will credited on your account. Please pay only on the Statement, not the invoice.
Please say hi to who’s on attendance when you come in otherwise you may be marked absent.
If you have invoices for reimbursement, please clear it with your relevant board director, so it can be authorised. It is also appreciated if they can be given to Wendy through the evening. It is too busy at the check in desk.
The February Farmers and Craft Market had over 50 stalls. Thanks to those who helped it matched last February in stall numbers and finances. David Button is doing a great job of publishing on Facebook.
We need someone take over from Terry for April market, as he is away. It involves managing the stall holders and site plan prior to the market. An early start on the day is making sure stalls are in their correct place, coordinating workers and general running of the market. Terry will give you all the information needed and there are always other people around for advice. Please see Terry if you can assist.
Lisa has been busy going to Anglesea surfing, Noojee camping, the Peninsula bushwalking and Orbost fishing. She is now well acquainted with drop toilets, surfing, kayaking, worms and hooks.
The fishing trip was fun with 5 exchange students attending. She got out of her comfort zone and got 2nd prize for a 40cm Luderick. She thanked Mark and Isobel for taking her.
Lisa reminded everyone that she is seeking sponsorship for the ride to conference. She needs some reward for riding up and down the hills around Hobart.
Her word for the week is “Angeln“. This means fishing.
Scott Walkerden has recently qualified as a Myotherapist.
He first come in contact with Rotary when he was sponsored to attend the Sports Hall of Fame Dinner as a year 11 student. He wanted to come and thank us for the opportunity that it gave him. Attending the dinner and seeing the sports people sent him down this course of study.
Scott spoke about posture and how it all starts with the feet. He had Rosemary rolling balls with her feet to loosen the fascia between the muscles. David Button demonstrated how to move our hips. We also learnt about the correct way to sit at our desk while working on the computer. Everyone seemed to be sitting slightly straighter by the end of the night.
Congratulations to Scott on his excellent first presentation about Myotherapy. He had us all engaged with an interesting topic.
