FROM THE PRESIDENT'S DESK - 15.11.2017
I must begin by wishing a very Happy 90th Birthday to
Past President (PP) Bill Minns, our Club’s Charter
Member, Club Historian and all round legend.
On behalf of the members and friends of the
Rotary Club of Berwick I wish you all the very best
on this momentous occasion.

In this week’s edition of the Spoke ‘n’ Words we provide you with a brief round up from the Club’s AGM, bring you the latest news from the Caulfields on their Great European Vacation, we also share three things that Rotary is about, and provide a general overview on what’s happening around the traps…

THREE THINGS ABOUT ROTARY YOU SHOULD KNOW
NUMBER 1: We Connect People - Rotary unites more than a million people

NUMBER 2: We Transform Communities - We take action locally and globally

NUMBER 3: We Solve Problems - No challenge is too big for us

The Rotary Club of Berwick has since its foundation in May 1961 connected people, transformed communities and solved problems… That is how we have been able to make a difference and change lives.  This is our story and you can be part of it too…

FROM TUSCANY WITH LOVE
It’s hard to believe that it has been four weeks already since we reported on the Caulfields’
trials, tribulations and triumphs on the epic Camino Trail through Spain.

After a stop in Porto in Portugal PP Mark and Isobel Caulfield have this week landed in Tuscany, Italy. A place Lonely Planet describes as a land of “lyrical landscapes, world-class art and a superb cucina contadina (farmer's kitchen)”, a “gourmet destination whose residents spend an inordinate amount of time thinking about, discussing and consuming food and wine.” Located in central Italy Tuscany is said to be “postcard material”.

REMINDERS
Order your Xmas Puddings Now!!
It’s that time of year when we think about the festive season, the season of giving.
Each year the club supports Rotary Foundation by getting orders from family and friends.  I will be putting in our order soon. You can order by emailing me at di.scheepers@gmail.com. I will also be circulating an order sheet at Rotary meetings.
For every Cake or steamed pudding, the Rotary Club of Berwick will receive $2.20 and $2.00 will go to Rotary Foundation.

It was a merry and memorable occasion.

Our Club and Rotary in general is thankful for your service.  We all hope you enjoyed your very special day.

JOKER'S WILD
All Rotarians in attendance are invited to participate, for a small fee, in the Joker's Wild session at each meeting for a chance to win a cash jackpot by drawing the "Joker" from a deck of cards.

Sandi asked Guest Speaker, Brad Battin MP, to pick out a ticket stub for the holder to take part in choosing from the deck hopefully choosing the Joker.
