Phew! The experiment worked! It turns out two little kids and one big kid make an excellent team to run a meeting. Well done to Georgie, Lachie and Funno on chairing our meeting this week. They did a great job interviewing our behind the badge Rotarian this week Russell Fellows. As Lachie said, "he puts the Fellows into Fellowship" and it was a fun way to learn a bit more about this great man who loves playing on playgrounds.
Fun facts from Russell, he was born in Lilydale, he makes an excellent Paella, he has one brother who is an electrician, and they once had a business together. Russell has harvested over 30 playgrounds for RORP, he believes the secret to a happy life is a good bottle of red wine and he would rather be a fairy than a princess.
WE WON BRONZE!
Congratulations to all members, our club received a bronze award at the District Governor's Excellence Awards on Friday night. The award recoginises club that have created thriving clubs, are active in the community, have grown membership, attended the district conference, applied for district grants, visited other clubs, have correct signage, have up to date websites, and other criteria. Well done to everyone that help us to acheive this award.
Next Week
Three great reasons to come along this week, Brendan and Bell Boon will be sharing a few stories about Rover Motor Sports and the impact the bushfires had on their race track facilities.
We will get to meet Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Katie Johnston who will be working with Gary Castricum on a project focusing on reducing youth crime.
Third reason is Louise has been busy firing our pottery and hopefully we will be able to see some of it this week. I know I am excited to see how the world's most beautiful nut bowl turned out!
