President's Ramblings

It was lovely to meet Robin and Jenny from the Rotary Club of Frankston and hear all about what they are doing to make the facilities better for the researchers and their families at Fort Grey.
The work they are doing with the bilbies, quolls and other endangered species is just fascinating and the members of their club are very hands on with assisting where they can.  How cool would it be to release a bilby back into the wild.  It would be great if we could venture up there one day and check it out for ourselves.

On Friday night, we were at the District Conference Launch.  PP Jen, who is one of the MCs for the event, will tell us all about it later this month.

On Saturday, Geoff and I went to Phillip Island to watch the final presentation for all the RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) participants.  Our Club sponsored Ruby Wilson, who will be visiting us soon to share her experience with us.

Later that evening we went to the Rotary Club of Casey's changeover and witnessed Jean Harrison handing over the presidency to Sam Dennison.  It was a great evening and it was really good to catch up with friends from Casey.

On Sunday, together with a number of our Club members, we celebrated Sharlene Watson's year as the Inner Wheel Club of Berwick's president and were extremely proud to witness Michele Somers being inducted as their new president for the next 12 months.  All the best Michele for the year ahead.

Hopefully we'll see you all, with your Christmas gear on, at this Wednesday's Christmas in July, evening.  No formalities, order off the menu and have a fun night with friends.  Rumour has it there may even be a visit from the man in red!

Hope to see you all there.
Cheers!
Di
