On Wednesday members of the Rotary Club of Berwick with their families and friends – including the Inner Wheel Club of Berwick - descended upon the new St John of God Hospital complex in Berwick for a tour of the facilities as it prepares to open its doors on 18th January 2018.
The new $120 million complex, will house state-of-the-art facilities and equipment to significantly expand the range of healthcare services to our rapidly growing community. Thank you to CEO Lisa Norman and her team for being such wonderful hosts and congratulations on this great achievement.
On the same day that the new facilities will open, the old hospital in Gibb Street will close its doors. For over 100 years the Gibb Street site has provided healthcare services to the Berwick and broader community.
To honour the past and celebrate the new beginning a symbolic community walk will be held on Sunday 7th January 2018 from the Gibb Street site to the new complex in Kangan Drive. Of course as a symbol of our strong association with the hospital, the Rotary Club of Berwick will be on hand to assist with the event. Go here to register to take part in the walk and for your chance to take a sneak peak of the new facility.

Between February and June 2018 Rotary International (RI) have scheduled a series of six presidential peacebuilding conferences in Canada, Lebanon, the UK, Australia, Italy, and the United States. These conferences are designed to help Rotarians from around the world find new ways to advance peace through their service, to learn from experts, and to strengthen our abilities to build peace. RI President, Ian Riseley hopes and believes that “these conferences will help us move closer to a more peaceful world, through Rotary: Making a Difference.” I encourage members to attend at least one of these conferences if they can.

Next Wednesday the 6th of December will be our last meeting at Holm Park for the year so make sure you join us for a great night of Rotary information and fellowship. Our special guest speaker Dr Tan will talk to us about Aboriginal Health. The following week (13th December) is our Christmas celebrations at Forest Edge and I understand 80+ have already booked in for this special night. Well done!!

I hope you enjoy this week’s edition of the bulletin!!
